16/10/2018 | Agricultural Training for Abkhazians: A GIMI First!

Galilee Institute had the honour of welcoming participants from Abkhazia. A group of six professionals sponsored by the UNDP Country Office of Abkhazia attended a tailor-made programme on Extension Services for Agriculture.

“We actually saw how from nothing can be made everything!” was the conclusion drawn by the participants, after the programme ended.

As the professional backgrounds of each group member varied; the first day comprised intensive theoretical classes, covering their stated main interests. These were complemented by study tours to gain firsthand experience and practical insights. The participants enhanced their knowledge in livestock; fruit; vegetables; dairy management and wine production.

In return, team GIMI was rewarded with a glimpse into the rich Abkhazian culture. Friends from a nearby Circassia village in Israel performed traditional dances during a special cultural evening. A highlight also for the fellow participants from other programmes.
