Wednesday 8th June, Galilee Institute's President, Dr. Joseph Shevel and the Institute's Director of Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs, Ambassador (Ret.) Shemi Zur had the great honour of being among the first to meet and greet the President of Liberia, HE Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Nobel Laureate, during her state visit to Israel. They welcomed the President and her VIP Delegation, including the Liberian Ministers for Foreign Affairs; Defence and Communication, warmly to Israel.

During a private meeting with President Johnson Sirleaf, Dr. Shevel, Ambassador Zur and the Consulate General of Liberia to Israel Col. (Ret.) Shevach, discussed the ongoing cooperation between Liberia and Galilee Institute. At this historic meeting, Dr. Shevel gave Her Excellency the names of many of the illustrious Liberian Alumni that studied here at Galilee Institute, Her Excellency was most impressed and expressed her wish to continue the cooperation and accordingly, Dr. Shevel confirmed granting 100 tuition scholarships, per year for five years, to be used for developing agriculture in Liberia.
