GIMI Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Major General (Ret.) Dr. Baruch Levy and GIMI President Dr. Joseph Shevel travelled to Kenya, for a series of meetings, this September, accompanied by Mr. Shai Sheked. They were delighted to have productive meetings with many friends including:
Third time GIMI Graduate, Mr. Harrison Kiritu Miano Wamai, the former Director of Administration at the Ministry of Agriculture (now working in the Ministry of Defence, Kenya).
Third time GIMI Graduate, Mr. Alex Gathii Gitonga, Tanolope Consultancy Limited introduced the Delegation to the “Agricultural Industry Network (AIN)” where they signed an agreement (MOU) during a ceremonial meeting.

The CEO (Mr. Edward K. Mudibo) was absent; the person who signed on AIN’s behalf was Dr. Elizabeth Ouko, Secretary General AIN.
Also present were Mr. Evans Sikinyi, Excecutive Officer STAK and AIN member and Mr. Kariuki Waweru, Advocacy Manager from The Business Advocacy Fund which funds AIN activities by funds from DANIDA. The AIN plan to offer a yearly training programme held by GIMI to all of it members.

Dr. Levy and Dr. Shevel Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS) and were delighted to see GIMI Graduate Mr. Christopher Simiyu Namachanja Head of Business Development and Corporate Affairs Division. Mr. Namachanja introduced them to Mr. Joshua Kimoro, Assistant Director of the Management Development Centre, where they discussed further cooperation.

The delegation also met with The Kenyan Police Force, officials from the Health Ministry, Kaimosi Friends University College, The University of Science and Technology. They also were delighted to meet Mr. James Lopoyetum Principal Secretary at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resources.
During one evening they enjoyed a lively discussion over dinner with GIMI Graduate Senator Godfrey Gitahi Kariuki, Parliament of the Republic of Kenya.
Eldoret
The GIMI Delegation then continued on to Eldoret. At the University of Eldoret they had a productive meeting with Professor Vincent Sudoi the Dean, School of Environmental Studies and GIMI Graduate Dr. Gelas Muse, Senior Lecturer and Department Head

Vihiga
The Delegation travelled on to Vihiga County, where they were received very warmly, they met with graduates and held a meeting with senior officials of the County to discuss further cooperation. This was all kindly arranged by our dear graduate the Honourable Mr. Johnstone Khejeri, Cabinet Secretary, responsible for Public Administration. They also had the timely opportunity to meet HE Moses Akaranga, the Governor of Vihiga County and invited him to Israel to learn more about what GIMI can offer regarding training.

Dr. Shevel was flown to Samburu County, by helicopter with the HE Moses Lenolkulal, the Governor of Samburu County.

There was a very warm reception/welcome and Dr. Shevel met with County Government Officials including GIMI graduates, The Hon. Steve Lelegwe, Mr. Patrick Leshore and Mr. Stephen Letinina who all came especially to meet Dr. Shevel.

Dr. Shevel spent the entire day and overnight in Samburu, he received a grand VIP Tour of the County, which he very much appreciated. During his time there he was interviewed by local news channels, he planted a tree and of course discussed continuing cooperation and new projects.

Rwanda
Dr. Shevel then flew to Rwanda to join the three day conference on “Regional Peace and Security Architecture: Building Synergies and Capacities for the Military and other Security Agencies in Eastern Africa”. This is the third time that he has been invited to the conference and this time his presentation was on 'Environmental Scarcity, Natural Resources and the New Wars in the 21st Century: Perspectives from the Middle East and Eastern Africa'. It was very well received by all.
