GIMI President, Dr. Joseph Shevel, Chairman Major General (Ret.) Dr. Baruch Levy and GIMI Board Member Mr. Amnon Stern, travelled to the Far East this October.

The delegation had an enjoyable, informal dinner with the elected incoming President of Kasetsart University Dr. Bordin Rassameethes. During their time in Thailand, they met with ML Patcharapa Tewvakul, the Deputy Secretariat from the Office of the Civil Service Commission. They paid a visit to the Ministry of Interior, hosted by Pongsak Yodying, Director of Directing Division, Prince Damrong Rajanupab Institute at the
Office of the Permanent Institute.
The main reason for their trip to Thailand was the Asian University President Forum that was held this year at the Christian University near Bangkok between 22-25 October.
During the conference they signed many MOUs and also met some graduates, including Rev. Renillo President of Saint Mary's University, The Philippines.
The delegation was then hosted by our graduate The Hon. Chaiyavoot Jarntorn the previous Deputy Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima Province and currently the Governor of Mahasarakham Province. He sent this great photograph of Dr. Shevel and Major General (Ret.) Dr. Levy when they visited Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand and had meeting with teams from 3 Universities and 6 offices.

They held a meeting with senior officials at Nakhonratchasima Provincial Hall, including the Governor of Nakhonratchasima Mr.Thongchai Lue-adul.
They also had a wonderful time in Phimai district where the toured the Phimai Historical Park and also Khao Yai National Park, and saw the famous Haew Suwat waterfall.

The delegation then flew to India and visited the Great Lakes Institute of Management.
Dr. Geeta Sinha a GIMI graduate from 2001 who is very active in the All India Woman Association and a clinical psychologist, came to see them at the Hotel.

They also had a very interesting meeting with Mr. Hemant Verma, graduate 2007 SMEs, who used to work in the Confederation of Indian Industry and now works in the UNIDO (United Nation Industrial Development Organisation).

They had a delightful reunion with another GIMI graduate Dr. Soubam Iboyaima Singh and held fruitful discussions.

Dr. Shevel also met the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping in India, Mr.Muruganandam. Ms. Nair, the Under-Secretary; Mr. Ravi Parmar, the Mumbai Port Trust's Chairman also attended the meeting. The Ministry of Shipping will sponsor two members for this year Port Senior management Programme. Dr. Shevel invited Mr. Muruganandam for a study tour with a delegation of senior officers.
