The Director of the Centre for Higher Education spent some more time in Africa, this time Carina visited Angola, South Africa and Zambia. Carina was very happy to have more time with her HE Graduates, as many of them travelled with her from Ben Gurion to Addis.

Angola
The first port of call for Carina was to IFAL, The Local Administration Training Institute in Luanda. Carina held a very productive and beneficial meeting with the Director General, Dr. Ismael Mateus and senior administrative staff.

GIMI Graduates Dr. Makaya Castelo José and Dr. Augusto Kianoca invited Carina to the Department of Justice to meet the Ombudsman, the Honourable Paulo Tjipilica. Carina was most impressed by his spirituality; knowledge and his promise to come to Israel very soon.

Carina returned to the hotel to meet with GIMI Graduate and friend, Mr. Alberto Jorge, from Tropicana Tour. They enjoyed an exciting meeting about launching tailor-made programmes later in the year.

During her time in Angola, Carina appreciated greatly an enjoyable and interesting tour of Luanda with two GIMI graduates Mrs. Virginie Nfinda andDr. Gonçalves João Brandão. She was overwhelmed by the kindness, hospitality and generosity that she was shown.

Another meeting that Carina greatly enjoyed was at the National Service of Customs, who have been cooperating with GIMI for many years. Carina was delighted meet up with two Graduates, Dr. Constância José Boy de Magalhães and Mrs. Rita da N. Pegado de Sousa Cassule.

Carina was invited to the University Agostinho Neto, Law School by GIMI Graduate, the Dean, Prof. Carlos Manuel Pedro Walter, to discuss further cooperation.

Carina also held a fruitful meeting at the Ministry of Finance, where she was happy to see GIMI Graduates: Dr. Octávio Tombe Quimbuila Capita, the National Director of Human Resources and Dr. Sandra A. da S. Gomes do Nascimento.

Carina then hosted an informal Graduate Meeting at the Hotel. Each graduate spoke of his or her experiences at GIMI and the effect that the programmes had on them and their organisations. Carina was both humbled and proud of their accomplishments and GIMIs impact.

Carina's last meeting in Angola was at ENAD, Angola's National Institute for Public Administration. The Director General, Dr. José Ribeiro and Senior Management discussed developing more programmes for in-country delivery.

South Africa
Carina enjoyed a very short visit to South Africa, on her way to Zambia. She had enough time to meet up with 2 graduates, who came to her hotel, to greet her.

Zambia
Carina's first day in Zambia was eventful indeed. She was pleased to visit Copperbelt University once again where she delivered her very well-received lecture on "Motivation and Work Commitment".

The next day, Carina visited the University of Lusaka, where she was uplifted by an energetic and inspiring meeting with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chifwanakeni. The meeting outlined many potential areas of cooperation, Carina was impressed by his vision. She was delighted to have seen another dear two-time GIMI Graduate, Mr. Daniel Bowasi.

Later that day, Carina enjoyed another fruitful meeting with senior management from UNZA, where she was thrilled to meet up with many GIMI Graduates. As a result of this meeting, more in-country programmes are to be delivered very soon.

Carina also hosted an informal Graduates Meeting at the hotel, where she was overjoyed to see so many old friends and to make some new ones. They discussed the possibility of forming a Graduates Association, to keep the momentum of inspiration alive.

The last day, Carina was happy to meet GIMI graduate Mr. Andrew Chisala, from the Road Development Agency (RDA). Mr. Chisala was accompanied by his lovely family and a Graduate-to-be, Rev. Happy Ngoma.

Carina returned safely from a productive and very pleasant trip to Angola, SA and Zambia, feeling really blessed and privileged to be “at home” and so warmly welcomed in many different countries, especially in Africa. Witnessing the impact of the Israeli experience in the lives of our dear graduates is one of GIMI's greatest rewards.
