Urban Economic Development - Online Course

Urban Economic Development - Online Course

The accelerated expansion of human activities has produced unforeseen, unplanned, negative influences on the environment. This has generated a demand for high quality recruits in the areas of research, planning and management concerned with the quality of the physical environment. These professionals must be involved in the ad-infinitum search for environmentally friendly approaches to socio-economic and spatial development. They need to be trained within a framework of a wide range of academic disciplines. None of these disciplines can, on its own, claim a monopoly over the understanding of dynamics of the interrelationship between human beings and the physical environment.

The objectives of the online course on Urban Economic Development are to impart appropriate policies and advanced tools for coping with imbalanced economic growth and social development in the urban centres of transitional countries. In order to strengthen the economic development in urban areas, this course focuses on urban land management and administration, economic planning, industrial and commercial development as well as environmental control. Special attention is placed on the issues of Smart cities.
